$875
A beautiful 1970's I. Magnin Travilla Tie Dye bias silk chiffon halter gown by
California couturier William
(Bill) Travilla.
The silk chiffon is soft, light as a feather spilling down the front from
the center bust creating a waterfall effect.
Magnificent gem colors of emerald, sapphire, amethyst and pink tourmaline. Lined in
royal purple poly crepe. As I would expect from a great costume or couture
design, there are no visible seams. The gown includes a matching silk chiffon scarf.
Hand applied back zipper. A flat wide metal hook fastens at the halter neck
pieces at neck back. Excellent,
original condition. Minor snags near zipper.
Size
10. Scarf 67". Bust up to 36", waist 30", Under bust to hem 48" length.

Travilla is best known for his sexy designs for Marilyn Monroe. How to Marry a Millionaire, Bus Stop, Seven Year Itch and
Gentleman Prefer Blonds. He won an Emmy for his designs for the famous 80's
TV show Dallas. He understood the female form and the curvy hourglass figure
and used a bias cut, halter neck and draping on many of his best known designs. Travilla
attended Woodbury College in Los Angeles during the 50's where he studied
fashion and costume design. He was a perfectionist, which shows in the
quality construction of the garments he created. |
